Tech investors are well aware of Hewlett-Packard's ignominious history in mobile. First came the disastrous Palm acquisition, and only a few years ago, the company endured an embarrassing launch for its unpopular TouchPad tablets. But Hewlett-Packard hasn't been deterred: The company just announced three new Android tablets.
The three tablets are aimed at the small-sized segment of the market. The Slate7 Extreme and Slate7 Plus come in at 7 inches, while the Slate8 Pro is 8 inches. All three tablets will run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, powered by NVIDIA's Tegra processors.
However, Hewlett-Packard's pricing strategy has left something to be desired. In a crowded market with fierce competition from both Google and Apple , HP really needs to price these products more aggressively if it hopes gain any share of this space.
In this segment of Tech Teardown, Erin Kennedy discusses Hewlett-Packard's new tablets with Evan Niu, CFA, our tech and telecom bureau chief.
